According to a recent news article, Bangalore, with 4.5 lakh engineers, has more engineers than New Delhi and Mumbai put together. The inherent opportunities in Bangalore amongst the established Multinational / Indian IT firms as well as the vibrant start up ecosystem (Read more HERE) continues to attract talent to Bangalore from across India.

?The presence of high ?skilled, employable talent pool, in turn attracts multinational firms entering India to Bangalore. Affordable rents and relatively lower real estate costs (compared to Mumbai / New Delhi) is a contributing factor to Bangalore being a preferred destination. Despite the traffic situation and much ? required infrastructure upgrades, Bangalore retains its pull over people from across India.

?However, Bangalore, with its immense potential to emerge as a world city, should envisage itself as a growing global city; plan and address the infrastructure requirements accordingly. Be it waste disposal, traffic issues, or any other growth pangs that any city faces, may be it is time to take a step back and ponder what can be done to make Bangalore a truly Global City while preserving all that makes Bangalore special. With the Comprehensive Development Plan up for revision, the responsibility lies with the planning authorities to come up with a truly dynamic but implementable master plan.
